Graduate Program

Overview

Tufts offers these museum studies graduate degree options:

Each Master of Arts program has its own requirements, but each includes both required and elective museum studies courses. All are designed as two-year, full time programs, but some departments may offer other options.

For more information on the graduate program requirements and deadlines, visit the Office of Graduate Admissions website.

Museum School Students

Current students at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, have the option of combining the Museum Studies Certificate with a Master of Fine Arts. Entering MFA graduate students and those who have completed their first year of study should contact the Museum Studies Program Administrator for more information at 617.627.2320.

Applying to a Graduate Program from the Certificate Program

We welcome applications from current museum studies students who wish to apply to a graduate program at Tufts, and try to make the process as smooth as possible. Interested students should speak to their academic advisors and the graduate advisors of the department, before applying. If accepted into a degree program, a Museum Studies Certificate student may transfer up to four eligible museum studies courses earned through the Certificate Program at no additional charge.
